A simple wind field.
I began this journal back in January 2024 as a way to catalogue my work on Vesper. Since then it's grown into more of a scattershot account of all my work.

For the last few months I've been putting a lot of time into a project with the others at the studio. Usually, I talk freely about the stuff I'm working on, but the others prefer we keep a lid on that one for the time being.
Much of the remaining time has gone into Vesper, where I've been locked inside the lighting model trying to figure out how light and color works. There's a lot to learn there. A lot.
Vesper has always dictated what needs doing, but still, while I figure this out, the rest of Vesper stays stalled. Without the light, there's not much that can be done.
The challenge lies in the complicated interplay between hue and value. Brightness and color. We can think of them apart, but they move together. Changing one changes the other. If you want things to look a certain way (not the usual way) you have to bend and distort how they interact. To do that in a predictable way you need to understand them - at least to a certain degree. That's where I'm at now.
